Week 33: I bet you think this post is about you...

Something about this hat makes me feel very Carly Simon. I did a google image search of her however and only came up with one picture where she's actually wearing a hat. But in my mind, Carly Simon wanders around all day in floppy hats singing "You're So Vain"....

This hat has been sitting in my hat since September 2010 when I dragged it back from Maui. Let's be honest, this thing is way too big on me! I guess I have a tiny head...

The blouse is a sweet shear tuxedo front top. I bought it almost two years ago and I never wear it. Now that I've physically put it on, I think I may try and incorporate it even more. Easily it can be paired with a cami and white jeans.

Week 32: There's no place like home.... But there are definitely some amazing places away from home!!

After a lengthy and fabulous vacation, I have finally completed the re-entry process to reality. I now know what the astronauts go through....

Thinking about what to wear and what to say after 3 weeks of dressing from a suitcase proved to be more difficult than I thought. Fortunately I chose a day when I knew I'd have unlimited access to amazing jewelry courtesy of the ever talented Meredith Jackson.

I suppose I was feeling feisty upon returning from California and decided to get a little crazy mixing patterns. Stripes and animal print are definitely out of my comfort zone but both items being neutral helped coax me out the door.

Spring Break

Week 31: Tis the Season for White Jeans

I love this green cardigan. But although it's been in my closet for several years now, I hardly ever wear it! I always look at it longingly but it never looks quite right when I put it on. Luckily, I picked a good year to try this blog since color blocking is so in style!

The truth is I think it just doesn't fit me very well. It's a little too long and so when I belt it, things end up bunchy and unattractive. But then I figure the white jeans and sequin top (another thing I've never actually worn before) are enough to razzle dazzle your attention away from the ill fitting cardigan.

Although now I've alerted you to it's general unflattering nature and so all you can do is stare and wonder what I was thinking!

Week 30: Denim on Denim

After recently seeing one of my favorite bands, The Black Keys, I decided to take a fashion tip from hottie Dan Auerbach. And that tip is denim on denim!

Truth be told I actually wore this outfit with my leopard print pumps but since they technically aren't part of the challenge I went with the red patent leathers for another option. And since it's spring, I think it's time for the furry leopard shoes to go into hibernation...

I also think this outfit might work with white jeans instead of regular denim. Here in the South any warm day is the right day to start wearing white jeans! Well except maybe in January. I have to draw the line somewhere!

Week 29: Anchor's Away

I've been saving this outfit since early on in my outfit project. I saw a version of this about 6 months ago on the blog Atlantic-Pacific only she had a red blazer with a blue/white stripe dress. But since Fall was fast approaching I decided to hang on until Spring.

I'm really excited about how this turned out! It took a few different tries with belts and jewelry but I think it came together nicely! It has limited wearability since the dress is clearly something for Spring/Summer and the blazer makes it too hot to be wearing even now here in Charlotte. We went from Winter to full on Summer days of 80 degrees but I hold on to the hope of chilly Spring nights where this combo becomes appropriate. It was on one such rainy night that I was able to wear this in the first place.

Finally, one of my friends removed the back stitching for me.
I tend to forget this step in getting dressed sometimes :)
